Moving to fast to walk.
I have been so busy the last several months that I had forgotten just how much that I enjoyed taking a walk after work. I used to take a 3 to 4 mile walk every evening to wind down and think. I finally had time this evening and it was great to just walk and think, think and walk. I almost dreaded having to stop walking. The weather was beautiful. Makes me want to skip work and do it again tomorrow. Maybe I should just prioritize my time, and become less of a human doing, and more of a human being. Now that's an idea.

Balance...what is it?
Balance. What is it? Such a simple word with so many implications. I have always known that it was important. What I feel that I haven't until recently realized is just how important it is to all aspects of life. I think that I am realizing that it is a very big common denominator in life. Not only in the natural world what ever that is, but in the emotional and physical world too. I realize that it is important, but when I think back in my life I find that balance has always been a reoccurring theme. Be it on a conscious or subconscious level. It does not seem to matter whether we strive for balance or not. The universe is bound and determined to in some way either subtle, or not, to always seek a homeostasis if you will. Actually I have a hard time trying to think of a subject or activity that does not seek a balance point.
Hmmmm.......let me toss out some quick topics to see if I can find one that does not require or is constantly seeking balance. Here we go. Eating, sleeping, working, drinking, driving, relationships, fun, money, Eco-systems, nutrition, education, horseback riding, dancing, walking, kindness, heat, cold, dark, light, up, down,.....even gravity is trying to bring us back to the center. Back to a balance point. To a comfort zone, where all is stable with the least amount of pressure. Where all elements in the universe can seek a respite without conflict. I really cannot think at this time where anything being out of balance is good, even in my swivel chair as I write this.
Oh well, this should give me some things to think about.

Obama lite / less filling?
Is it just me, or does it feel like the air is a little less heavy since Obama took office? I know that in reality that not much can change in just two days, but I get more of a feeling that things are finally going to turn to a positive slant. Not just here in the homeland, but around the world as well. I don't know if it's me just drinking the political kool-aid or what. The one thing that I do know is that my own personal ground zero in which I traverse feels different. Feelings can be fickle. Only time will set the reality. Anyone else sense anything? Just curious.
Simple musings
Their is just some things that baffle me to no end. I will keep this short.
1. How do people make it in this world without getting shot, when they have virtually no people skills? This includes listening, talking, thinking, and eating with their mouth shut. How do they end up in customer service jobs? They also tend to have enough kids to start their own soccer team. Ughhhh!!
2. Why don't we teach critical thinking skills to our children? To adults? Why is it that adults act more childish than the children they bare?
3. George W. .............why did it take eight years? ( refer to #2) Enough said!

Happy new year!
I know what you are thinking. Your a little late dude. No kidding!
For all of you that know me, and for those who don't. I just want to extend a happy new year to everyone that I may have come in contact with this last year. That includes, but is not limited to physical, mental, and cyber connections. It's those interactions that help us become what we are and are not. May you and yours have a great 2009! Blog on!! Yohon.

Deer, Dance and Ducks etc.etc.etc.
I think I have to many hobbies. Is that possible? Or do I just have to many interests for my allotment of time on this mud ball that I am riding on? Isn't it great that we have the ability to pursue all of the things that we can imagine in this life? I think that we are very lucky to live in this day and age. Yeah........their is plenty to complain about, but their is in every generation. In my way of thinking it comes down to one's perception of their existence. Are you coming from fear and the feeling that their is not enough, or the thought that their is an abundance of everything good and enough for all to enjoy? Perception is everything. Gotta go....tomorrow is coming and I need to get rested up!

No way around it.....dang it
I know its difficult to see the similarities between roping steers and ballroom dancing, but I can attest that their is not much difference in the skill, physicality, or emotional highs and lows that one experiences when you take your craft out of the class room and put it in front of your fellow peers and total strangers to see. When you use that as a barometer of your learning it can be quite humbling.
In ballroom dance and team roping the similarities can be very similar in that your body must be able to multi-task at a seconds notice and legs, torso, hands and feet must be able to adjust on the fly all the while your eyes and brain need to be in sink with your current surroundings to avoid wrecks, and awkward situations. Mastering the art of maintaining your partner in a controlled manner be it horse or dance partner to me is one of the biggest challenges. Just about the time that you think you have it down pat, you take your horse to town to show off what you have learned only to get bucked off in front of your friends. I know that is the quickest way to measure where you are at in the learning process but sometimes it really sucks. Especially when you think your game was solid. You spend hours and hours training and thousands of dollars in the process only to find out that the learning has just begun. It's good, it's cool,....I have been down this road before, it's just that you hope this time you can skip this step in the process. Ain't going to happen this time either but it's always good to think so.
How's the old saying go......sing like no one can hear, dance like no one is watching, and love like you have never been hurt. Bodes well this time.
